Thedefinitionof “jingbi” is to take preemptive action to ward offfuture trouble, and this book of corrections (jingbirok) by Yu Seong-ryong (柳成龍, 1542–1607) records circumstances during the Japanese Invasion of 1592 (Imjinwaeran).
The date is unknwn, but was written when Yu was serving as a clerk (hyangni) after stepping down from the royal court,and addresses gains and losses during the invasion.
It also gives an accurate record of such topics as the relationship between Joseon and Japan before the invasion and the war situations surrounding dispatch of Ming Dynasty reinforcements and securing control of the sea.
