An oyster-shucker for shelling and scraping oyster flesh and a large wooden bowl

to contain shucked oysters. To shuck an oyster, it was placed atop the wide part of the wooden bowl.

The tipof the shucker was inserted into the oyster’s hinge until the shell opened, and the flesh was then picked out using a hook.

The big hook on the upper side of the shucker was used to spear or break oysters,

and the small hook at the end of the handle was used to remove the flesh
